Local workflow
Landesamt für Einwanderung (LEA)
City pages need local authority logic, sources, and filing proof, not copied generic text.
Treat Berlin as an online filing workflow
This LEA route is online only. Save the generated PDF confirmation immediately and keep it with your passport and current title records. The Berlin service page says that this confirmation extends your current German title beyond its expiry date in Germany when you filed in time, but not if you hold a short-stay Schengen C visa or the title was already expired on filing day.
What usually drives review
The LEA review packet needs to show a valid marriage, the sponsor’s status, simple German A1 proof where required, secured income, enough living space, and German health insurance. Foreign insurance is not sufficient according to the Berlin service page.
Working checklist
- Saved LEA application confirmation PDF
- Your passport copies and current German residence title
- Spouse passport copy and spouse residence title copy
- Marriage certificate with certified translation and apostille/legalization if needed
- A1 German certificate or other accepted language proof where required
- Income evidence such as contract, six months of net salary proof, and recent employer letter
- Housing proof showing floor space and monthly warm rent
- German statutory or qualifying private health insurance proof for both spouses
Common mistakes
- Submitting the online application without saving the confirmation PDF
- Uploading foreign health insurance instead of German coverage evidence
- Ignoring housing-cost proof, current email monitoring, or spam-folder follow-up
